Update on Chief Whitehorn being inducted into LA Justice Hall of Fame
Chief of Police Henry Whitehorn will be one of nine people to be inducted into the Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame this week.
The induction will take place this Friday, Aug. 1, at the Fourth Annual Induction Banquet and Award's Ceremonies at the Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame Museum, located at the gates of the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola. A special gala is also planned to take place in Baton Rouge later that night.
Chief Whitehorn was voted unanimously to be an inductee by the Louisiana State Penitentiary Museum Foundation. His photo will be displayed among all other inductees.
The Induction Award is directed to individuals who have either made a profound impact upon Louisiana or who have devoted their life to the judiciary, law enforcement or corrections in the state and/or nation.
Among those honoring Chief Whitehorn will be Major General Bennett J. Landreneau of the Louisiana National Guard and former Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco. Whitehorn worked for Blanco when he was superintendent for the Louisiana State Police. Whitehorn became Chief of the Shreveport Police Department one year ago.
“During his 29 years in law enforcement, Colonel Henry Whitehorn has always put the safety and security of the citizens of Louisiana first," Blanco said. "As Superintendent of the Louisiana State Police during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, he was an oasis of calm under fire. He led our first responders in a heroic effort to stand strong in the face of the greatest natural disaster any state has ever seen. I want to congratulate The Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame for honoring such a dignified, battle tested and wonderfully deserving person for this award.”
