Detectives seek suspect in home invasion Police detectives are looking for a local man in connection with a home invasion last night.
At approximately 11:12 p.m. last night, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to a residence in the 6000 block of Foxchase Trail relative to a home invasion call. The caller reported to dispatchers that two suspects had broken into a home there and one of the suspects had been shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 15 year old male inside the home suffering from at least two gunshot wounds to the upper torso. The teenager was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department where he was later pronounced deceased.
Detectives immediately began their investigation and have learned that 62 year old Billy Mayweather was at his home on Foxchase Trail when he was awakened by two suspects who proceeded to bind his hands and feet with duct tape. The suspects then began to ransack the home when the victim’s son, 31 year old Brandon Mayweather arrived on scene. Brandon and his mother, who do not live in the house on Foxchase, had stopped by to check on Mr. Mayweather. As Brandon Mayweather entered the home, he observed one of the suspects who produced a handgun and fired a shot at him. Brandon Mayweather returned fire, striking the suspect at least twice. No charges have been filed against Brandon Mayweather at this time and no one else was injured.
Detectives have now obtained an arrest warrant for 18 year old Jeremy Rachal of the 6200 block of Southcrest Drive in Shreveport charging him with one count of home invasion. The warrant has no bond. Investigators report that at this very early stage in the investigation they do not believe the suspects were acquainted with the victims in any way. Detectives have seized two handguns in connection with this crime- one they believe was used by the teenager to shoot at Brandon Mayweather and the other that Mayweather used to shoot the suspect. Anyone with any information regarding this case or the whereabouts of Jeremy Rachal is urged to call Shreveport Police Detective Lowell Bowen at 318-673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
