Detectives search for suspect in overnight homicide

Shreveport Police detectives are working to identify and apprehend a suspect in an overnight shooting that claimed the life of a local man.

At approximately 10:36 p.m. on February 11, 2010, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a reported shooting near the intersection of Wallace Avenue and Fuller Street just west of Linwood Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located 40 year old James H. Pouncy in a vehicle there suffering from several gunshot wounds to the upper body. Pouncy was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department where he was later pronounced deceased.

Detectives and crime scene investigators were dispatched and immediately began their investigation. Investigators have recovered evidence from the crime scene and have interviewed possible witnesses who heard gunfire in the area. Detectives are in the early stages of this investigation and are still working to determine who is responsible for the death of James Pouncy.
