Shreveport Police prepare for frigid conditions The Shreveport Police Department is gearing up to address the potential threats bone chilling temperatures might bring to our city.
At 10:00 p.m. tonight, the Shreveport Police Department will open an Emergency Operations Command at the Caddo Parish 911 Center that will be staffed by on duty Shreveport Police commanders until the danger has passed. Additional officers are being brought in as a precaution and will be working throughout the night and early morning hours in a proactive effort to address any possible problems that may arise.
We would like to take this opportunity to once again remind folks to pay close attention to their neighbors, especially those who might be elderly, as the temperatures dip into the teens. Don’t forget about your pets and make sure animals have adequate warmth and shelter. We are also encouraging motorists to use extra caution, particularly on bridges and overpasses. If you must get out and about when roadways may be icy, please remember to tailor your driving habits to suit the prevailing conditions. Slow down and allow yourself more time to get where you are going.
If you encounter any kind of hazardous conditions or know of a neighbor that may be in need of assistance, please call the Shreveport Police Department immediately at 318-673-BLUE (2583) or, in the event of an emergency, 911.
