City of Shreveport’s Comprehensive Master Plan

Mayor Cedric B. Glover and the Shreveport Metropolitan Planning Commission are leading the way towards developing a new and exciting City/Parish Master Plan to direct economic growth and quality of life initiatives for the next 20 years.

Shreveport’s first Master Plan was created by Mayor James C. Gardner who proudly served the City from 1954 to 1958.  Mayor Gardner looked to the future of Shreveport, erected City Hall at 1234 Texas Street, developed much of the City’s infrastructure and pioneered ventures such as the Clyde Fant Parkway and Interstate 49.  “Because of his extraordinary insight and vision, today we enjoy the success of the Gardner administration’s roadmap that was put in place some 54 years ago,” says Mayor Glover.

Mayor Glover’s vision to lead, energize and position Shreveport as “The Next Great City of the South” calls for a new plan for growth.  In the planning process, the Master Plan will examine how Shreveport and Caddo Parish residents live, earn, plan and learn and the future progress that can be made in each area.  Extensive, broad based, public and community input will be a critical component of Shreveport’s new Master Plan.  With your help, this plan will guide our success in future generations.
