The Shreveport Fire Department Pastor Program is a vital component of the department's holistic response to address the needs of the ‘whole’ man. These volunteer pastors have the daunting task of serving two groups of people--the citizens of Shreveport and the employees of this department--during times of crisis.

We believe that the Fire Department Pastor Program is consistent with the department's philosophy of providing a safe work environment for its employees and comprehensive service to the community. For this reason, Fire Chief Brian A. Crawford selected these individuals after viewing their educational background, experience and availability to serve in this capacity.

Fire Department Volunteer Pastors are not commissioned as Firefighters or Emergency Medical Service Providers. They are authorized to wear the official Fire Department insignia and logos on their civilian clothing so that they are readily identified as a Shreveport Fire Department Volunteer Pastor.

Qualifications for the Pastor Program:

• The Pastor program is open to any ordained member of the clergy.

• Volunteer Pastors should not be employed by the City of Shreveport.
