A permit shall be obtained to manufacture, possess, store, sell or otherwise dispose of explosives, blasting agents, or small arms ammunition. Permits are also required to transport or use explosives, blasting agents, electric blasting caps and non-electric blasting caps in the City of Shreveport. U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations shall be complied with in the storage and transportation of explosives and blasting agents.

The Fire Prevention Bureau of the Shreveport Fire Department is responsible for approving this permit. The permit application must be brought IN PERSON to the Fire Prevention Bureau, 505 Travis Street, Suite 510. A site plan, plot plan, or other relevant information is necessary prior to approval. In most instances a site inspection made by an Inspector is required before approval is granted. Each permit requires a $50.00 permit fee to be paid at time of application. If the permit is not approved, the fee is returned to the applicant.
