January 27, 2010 - Late Evening House Fire sends One Person to the Hospital with Serious Injuries

At 10:16 p.m., Shreveport firefighters were dispatched to the 1500 block of Creswell Boulevard in the Highland community for a residential house fire. Firefighters arrived on scene at 10:20 p.m. to find heavy smoke and flames coming from windows on the south and east sides.

Neighbors informed firefighters that the home was occupied by a 65 year old male. Engine Company 7 forced entry into the home and rescued the patient within moments after arriving. The patient was removed and treated on scene before being transported to LSUHSC where he is currently listed in critical condition.

It took approximately 19 firefighters -- 7 fire crews-more than one hour to extinguish the heavy flames that extended nearly fifteen feet above the roof. The cause of this fire is under investigation.
