October 26, 2010 - Unattended Cooking Causes Major Damage to Morningside Home

Cause of the fire was accidental

This morning, fire crews were dispatched to 2500 block of Midway Avenue in the Morningside community at 9:05 a.m. to discover heavy smoke and flames coming from the single story wood frame structure. Firefighters used forced entry and extinguished the fire in the kitchen in approximately 15 minutes. The owners were not home at the time of the fire.

Fire Investigators have determined that the cause of the fire was accidental. The fire originated on the stove top but flames spread to the attic and living room causing more than $15,000 in fire damage. There were no reported injuries.
