October 15, 2010 - SFD Busy with Two Late Afternoon House Fires
Fire crews dispatched within 20 minutes of each other

The Shreveport Fire Department responded to two working house fires this afternoon. The first fire was dispatched at 4:00 pm to 3123 DeVaughn Street. Fire Crews arrived on scene within five minutes reporting a small wood frame structure heavily involved with fire showing from two sides of the home and the attic. The fire was also beginning to affect the home next door to it. Crews aggressively protected the exposed home minimizing any damage to it and was able to bring the house fire under control at 4:19 pm. The home was occupied by two adults and two children who all escaped without injury. The home suffered heavy fire damage and cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The second fire was dispatched at 4:20 pm to 4402 Ackard. Fire crews arrived on scene within two minutes and found smoke coming from the windows and roof of a one story brick home. Crews entered the home and found one room on fire and quickly extinguished it. The home was occupied by one adult who was not home at the time of the fire. The home suffered moderate fire damage to the involved room and smoke damage throughout. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation. There were no firefighter injuries.
