September 25, 2010 - SFD Kept Busy with Two Overnight House Fires

The cause of both fires is still under investigation

The Shreveport Fire Department responded to two overnight house fires that damaged two homes. The first fire dispatched at 12:17 am to 1943 Myrtle Street. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a one story wood frame home with smoke and flames coming from the windows on one side of the home, threatening the neighboring home beside it. The crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly preventing it from damaging the other home. The fire was brought under control at 12:29 am. The home suffered moderate fire damage but heavy smoke damage. There was one occupant in the home who escaped without injury.

The second house fire was dispatched at 3:48 am to 3001 Morningside Drive. Fire crews arrived to find a one story brick home with fire and heavy smoke coming from the back and the roof of the home. This fire was brought under control at 4:07 am with the home suffering heavy fire and smoke damage. The home was occupied by two residents who escaped without injury.

The cause of both fires is still under investigation.
