August 17, 2010 - Shreveport Fire Department Purchases Driving Simulator with Assistance to Firefighters Grant
New device supports the SFD’s goal to increase safety, reduce accidents, and save tax-payers dollars.

The Shreveport Fire Department has purchased a state-of-the-art DORON Driving Simulator with a $200,000 + grant from the United States Department of Homeland Security and the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

Today at 2:00 p.m., fire officials will be on-hand to demonstrate its unique features and explain the cost-saving benefits for the citizens of Shreveport during its unveiling.

“We are the first fire department in north Louisiana to offer this type of specialized training, and we are optimistic that we will see a drastic decrease in motor vehicle accidents and injuries,” according to Fire Chief Brian Crawford.
