August 12, 2010 - City to Unveil Swim Initiative
Stewart-Warner Project Swim to provide swim education to all

Shreveport city officials along with a host of other public, private, and faith based organizations will announce plans for a new swim education initiative today at a scheduled afternoon press conference. The Stewart-Warner Project Swim will be a comprehensive and multidimensional initiative, using successful national models, to bring swim education, including lessons, to the community. The mission of Stewart-Warner Project Swim is to provide anyone the opportunity to learn to swim and that opportunity not be limited due to socio-economic status or access to accommodating water facilities.

When: Thursday, August 12, 2010
Time: 3:00 p.m.

Scheduled to be in attendance: Members of the Stewart and Warner families, Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover, Council President Joyce Bowman, SPAR Director Shelly Ragel, Fire Chief Brian Crawford, Caddo School Superintendant Dr. Gerald Dawkins, YMCA Director Gary Lash, Red Cross Director Reid Brau, Bishop Larry L. Brandon, Pastor Cynthia Harris, Community Foundation Director Paula Hickman, State Representative Barbara Norton, others.
