July 24, 2010 - SFD Responds to Suspicious Package
Suspicious package left near a gas pump

The Shreveport Fire Department Bomb Technicians responded to the Valero Convenience Store at 9345 Mansfield Road this morning at 9:30 am for a suspicious package that was left near a gas pump. The individual who left the device was well known by the store management and had several disagreements with the customer in the past. Store management review the surveillance video tape from the store and seen that the device was left there by the customer. This prompted them to call 9-1-1.

SFD Bomb Technicians arrived on scene along with Shreveport Police and secured the area to protect the public. The Remote Control Robot was used to approach the package and disrupt it. Once that operation was completed, the package was found to be no threat as an explosive device.

The contents of the package were taken into custody and SFD Investigators will continue their investigation as to why the package was left at the store.
