July 16, 2010 - Afternoon House Fire Displaces Family of Four

Cause of the fire is under investigation

Shortly after 1:00 p.m. this afternoon, the Shreveport Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 4700 block of Adam Street in the Hollywood community in south Shreveport. Initial fire crews arrived on scene within four minutes to find heavy smoke and flames billowing from the door and windows on the east side of a single-story wood-framed home. It took firefighters less than ten minutes to extinguish the fire.

Fire investigators have determined that the fire originated in the living room; however, the exact cause of the fire is under investigation. Investigators have confirmed that nearly 70 percent of the home was damaged by fire and is considered unlivable. A family pet deceased in the fire.

The Red Cross has agreed to provide temporary housing for the family until more permanent arrangements are made.
