May 26, 2010 - SFD and WKHS partner for the Department’s Eleventh Annual Open House

FREE health screenings

Today, Fire Chief Brian Crawford announced plans for the Shreveport Fire Department’s Eleventh Annual Open House Weekend Celebration. The Open House Weekend is Sat., June 5th and Sun., June 6th from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. FREE health screenings will be provided by Willis-Knighton Health System on Saturday, June 5th from 10:00am-1:00pm at selected locations.

Fire Department Locations & Times

During the open house, fire professionals will be administering FREE blood pressure checks and blood glucose screenings at stations with Medic units, provide guided station tours, and conduct equipment demonstrations and rescue techniques. Fire Prevention Officers and the Fire Administrative staff will be available to assist the public with developing effective fire escape plans as well as instructions on acquiring FREE smoke alarms.

“The Open House is an excellent chance for the citizens of Shreveport to meet their neighborhood firefighters and it’s an opportunity for our firefighters to educate the public about our first-rate services and job opportunities,” says Fire Chief Brian Crawford. “We are again delighted that Willis-Knighton has agreed to unite with the SFD as we attempt to keep our community healthy.”
