April 30, 2010 - Vacant Cedar Grove Home Burns Overnight

The cause of the fire is still under investigation

Fire companies from the Cedar Grove neighborhood responded to 464 East 74^th street at 2:38 am overnight. When crews arrived on scene they found a vacant wood frame home with heavy smoke showing and fire coming from two sides of the structure. Fire attack crews worked immediately to protect a home next door to the burning structure and prevented the flames from spreading to it. The fire was brought under control at 2:53 am.
 
The home had no utilities connected to it and suffered heavy damage from the blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
