May 20, 2009 Two Vehicle Accident sends one to Hospital

One patient transported to Schumpert Health System

The Shreveport Fire Department was dispatched to a T-bone automobile collision at 3:47 p.m. this afternoon. The accident occurred at Pete Harris and Caddo Street near downtown Shreveport. The collision involved two cars; however, only one patient was transported to Schumpert Health System Main with non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses said a white SUV collided with a white mini-van which caused the mini-van to rollover multiple times, landing on the side. Firefighters used the ‘jaws of life’ to extricate the driver of the mini-van who was pinned inside. Fire officials said the patient was wearing seatbelt restraints, which likely contributed to their survival.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Shreveport Police Department.
