April 24, 2009 - FIRE DESTROYS HOME IN BROADMOOR

Cause of the fire not yet determined

A home at 3868 Greenway Place in Broadmoor was destroyed by fire on Friday night. Shreveport Fire Dept. units responded to a house fire that was fully involved when the first units arrived on the scene. Fire units were dispatched at 9:02 p.m. and arrived on the scene at 9:07 p.m. The first arriving engine reported that the house was fully involved and the fire had already burned its way through the roof. In spite of an aggressive attack by the fire dept. the fire continued to burn until brought under control approximately one hour later at 10:03 p.m.

It was reported that the house was not occupied at the time of the fire, but according to neighbors the house has been undergoing some home improvement repairs. Though the house was totally destroyed the Fire Department was able to contain the fire and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby homes. Curious and concerned neighbors lined the street watching as the fire dept. worked hard to extinguish the structure. Fire Investigators were on the scene but the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
