August 16, 2009 - SFD Responds to Building Fire

The building was unoccupied

The Shreveport Fire Department responded to 1515 Southern Avenue for a reported building fire at 9:30 PM.  Fire crews arrived on scene at 9:34 PM to find a large amount of debris on fire outside the building and the attic of the building on fire.  Crews immediately attacked the fire and had it under control by 9:50 PM.  The building sustained heavy fire damage to a portion of the attic and smoke damage throughout the building. 
 
The building was used as a church with a large portion of the building used for storage.  The fire occurred where most of the storage space was being used.  The building was unoccupied at the time and there were no injuries from the incident.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
