July 25, 2009 - SFD responds to a fire in North Shreveport Home

Fire was likely caused by a six year old juvenile

Shortly after 5:00 pm this evening, the Shreveport Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 3200 block of Tower Drive in the Martin Luther King area. Firefighters arrived on scene within seven minutes to find heavy white smoke coming from front door of the home. Fire crews entered the home to find clothes burning in the closet of the west side bedroom; the fire was contained and extinguished within six minutes. Two occupants were treated on scene for smoke inhalation and released.

After an on-scene interview, fire officials report that the fire was likely caused by a six year old juvenile who admitted to using matches to setting the fire in the closet. Before the fire department was called, the occupants made unsuccessful attempts to extinguish the fire.
