July 17, 2009 - Injured SFD Chief Adams Continues Treatment at Home

Returning Home After 5 Months

Shreveport Fire Department Fire Chief Brian A. Crawford and the family of Battalion Chief Tommy Adams announced that Chief Adams will be returning home after an extensive five month hospital rehabilitation program.

“This will be a very special day for us,” according to Tommy’s wife, Traci Adams. “Monday, July 20^th will mark the 5^th month anniversary of Tommy leaving home to begin his 24 hour tour of duty at Central Fire Station. I never imagined that Tommy would be severely injured within 24 hours of completing his tour of duty. I would like to thank the SFD and the community who have worked tirelessly to make this day happen.”
According to Fire Chief Brian Crawford the department will assign a medic unit to transport Chief Adams home. This gesture is extended to all fire personnel injured in the line of duty. “During the last five months, their family has faced insurmountable odds, and this department and community have watched them accept these challenges with grace and dignity.”
Chief Adams will continue to receive rehabilitation services at home.
