June 24, 2009 - Local Business partners with SFD to Install Smoke Alarms

Smoke Alarm give-away campaign will exceed the total number of smoke alarms distributed in 2008

Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse Store in Shreveport has donated 250 smoke alarms to the Shreveport Fire Department’s FREE Smoke Alarms give-away program. This partnership will allow volunteers from both organizations to install these life-saving devices in homes in the Cedar Grove community.

Using a spin-off of Lowe’s national motto, “Let’s Build Something Together”, we are joining forces to help “Build Fire Safety” awareness in our local communities, according to campaign organizers.

“In 2008, our Department installed 397 smoke alarms throughout the City. To date and upon completion of this campaign, we are on track to install approximately 800 smoke alarms, which would double last years’ numbers, “ according to Fire Chief Crawford. “This administration is committed to educating and equipping as many people as possible with the necessary tools to keep them safe. “
