June 17, 2009 - Shreveport Fire Department Adds Life-saving Equipment to Existing Fleet

Upgraded Equipment Increase Departments Abilities

Fire Chief Brian A. Crawford proudly announced that the Shreveport Fire Department’s current fleet has been upgraded to provide additional extrication and rescue services for the citizens of Shreveport. The ladder trucks at Fire Station Number 12 and Fire Station Number 20 have been upgraded to include advanced life-saving devices which will increase the department’s ability to rapidly reach trapped patients. Each truck will include:

    ● 200 ft. 3/8 in air hose
    ● Air chisel with four cutting bits
    ● Windshield saw
    ● Spring loaded center punch
    ● Reciprocating saw with extra blades
    ● Hurst 5000 psi power pump with hose and extension hose
    ● Hurst 5000 psi spreaders
    ● Hurst 5000 psi cutters
    ● Hurst 5000 psi Omni tool
    ● Hurst 5000 psi short and long ram with accessories
    ● Hurst 5000 psi ram extensions

“Residents in West Shreveport and Southeast Shreveport communities will have the benefits of state-of-the-art rescue services. By adding this equipment, every corner of the city is covered assuring a faster response time during any crisis situation,” according to Chief Crawford.
