March 18, 2009 - Firefighters “Shaking the Boot” for Battalion Chief Tommy Adams
Chief Crawford is encouraging everyone to generously donate

Shreveport Fire Chief Brian A. Crawford has announced official plans for Shreveport Firefighters to “Shake the Boot” for one of our own --Battalion Chief Tommy Adams. On Friday, March 20, 2009 from 4:30 p.m. –5:30 p.m., Chief Crawford, members of his Command Staff, on-duty and off-duty firefighters will be stationed at every major intersection throughout the City of Shreveport collecting donations for our injured co-worker. All proceeds will go directly into the Adams’ family account, which is set up at the Professional Fire Fighters Credit Union. The funds will assist the Adams family with living expenses while he recovers in a rehabilitation facility in Atlanta, Georgia.

Last month, Battalion Chief Tommy Adams, 52, sustained serious injuries in a fall during the Crew of Gemini’s Mardi Gras parade. Adams fell 10 feet and fractured several cervical vertebras in his neck.

Chief Crawford applauds his wife, Traci Adams, for her tireless commitment to her husband and their two children. “Traci has been by Tommy’s side since this tragic accident in February. She has taken indefinite leave from her job as a nurse to care for Tommy 24/7 while he is in Georgia,” Crawford said.

Chief Crawford is encouraging everyone to generously donate to this worthwhile cause. This is the first of many ‘helping hand’ activities sponsored by the Shreveport Fire Department.
