March 2, 2009 – News Conference Announced to Update Public on Firefighters Progess

Shreveport Fire Department Fire Chief Brian A. Crawford, representatives from Willis-Knighton Health System, and members of Battalion Chief Tommy Adams' family will hold a press conference this afternoon to update the status and progress of Chief Adams medical condition.

Location: WK-Pierremont Health Center (Second Floor Conference room 203 located behind the main auditorium)

Time: 3:00 p.m.

Battalion Chief Tommy Adams, 52, sustained a serious injury in a fall following the Crew of Geminis Mardi Gras parade on Saturday, February 21, 2009. He was securing materials on the top of a fire department ladder truck that had been used in the parade when he apparently lost his balance and fell approximately 8-10 feet.

Chief Adams is a highly decorated 31-year veteran of the fire department coming to work as a firefighter in 1977. He was promoted to Battalion Chief in 2007.
