February 20, 2009 - Man Arrested for Making Verbal Threat

Arson Threat Made

Shreveport Fire investigators arrested a man Thursday, February 19, 2009, for communicating a verbal threat of arson. Billy Russell was attempting to call his wife at the Heritage Manor Stratmore Nursing Home at 530 Stratmore Drive in Shreveport on February 17, 2009. When the switchboard operator was unable to connect him he communicated to the operator that “he was bringing a gun there to shoot her and would blow up the building.” Mr. Russell was brought in for questioning the following day and fully confessed to the verbal threat and was arrested and charged with the felony of communicating false information of a planned arson or bomb threat which can carry a prison sentence up to 20 years.
