December 28, 2008 - Pierremont Oaks Tennis Club Sustains Heavy Fire Damage

Fire at the Pierremont Oaks Tennis Club

Last night at 11:50 p.m., the Shreveport Fire Department was dispatched to the Pierremont Oaks Tennis Club located at 578 Springlake Drive in the southeast area of the City. Firefighters arrived on scene at 11:53 to find flames visible from the east side of the building and fire coming from the roof. Battalion Chief Randy Hodge requested two additional fire companies just in case the fire gained intensity or began to spread. It took 10 fire crews less than 40 minutes to get the fire under control.

The Club manger told Investigator Chris Robinson that the last social event held there was on Christmas Eve and he checked on the building earlier in the day and that everything appeared to be normal. Firefighters had to break out glass doors to gain access into the facility. The kitchen area and the roof sustained heavy fire damage while the other areas of the building sustained minor smoke and water damage.

According to fire officials, “This fire is classified as accidental. The evidence and fire patterns revealed that the fire originated at or in a refrigerator along the east wall of the kitchen. There were no injuries”
