December 28, 2008 - Nantucket Harbor Apartment damaged by Early Morning Fire

Fire at the Nantucket Harbor Apartments

The Shreveport Fire Department responds to another preventable apartment fire in the area. Investigators report that a hot iron left on or near the bed is the cause of this fire. This morning, the Shreveport Fire Department was called out at 9:40 a.m. to the Nantucket Harbor Apartments located at 4650 Lakeshore Drive. Firefighters arrived on scene at 9:44 a.m. to find heavy smoke billowing from a second floor apartment of building #2. Within 12 minutes, the fire was contained to the bedroom of the single family apartment and did not spread to other parts to the apartment or complex. The occupants were at church when the fire was reported by neighbors.
