November 4, 2008 - Fire Chief Selects First Female Chief of Communications

Fire Chief Brian A. Crawford will hold a press conference to announce the selection of the new Chief of Fire Communications. The selection process has narrowed the candidates down to two Fire Communications Division members. Assistant Chief of Communications Violet Anderson and Assistant Chief of Communications Kathy Rushworth, each with over 24 years of service with the department, are the final two candidates for the position. This will be another historic moment in the storied tradition of the Shreveport Fire Department as this will be the first female to hold the position of a Division Chief, which has the sole responsibility of the effective and efficient operation of the communications division. Chief Crawford stated, “The fire service has seen significant change in the past years with females taking on more and more roles of responsibility in the fire service and our department is reflecting that change also with this appointment as our new Chief of Fire Communications.”
