October 27, 2008 - Electric Wiring in the attic caused House Fire in Allendale

Early evening house fire on Andrew Street

Today, at 5:07 pm, the Shreveport Fire Department was dispatched to 1123 Andrew Street to an early evening house fire. Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the gable vent at the front side of the home. Fire crews discovered flames in the attic and quickly extinguished the fire.

Owner, Robert Williams told firefighters that the lights flickered and went out in his home, and he went outside to check the breaker box. While outside Mr. Williams saw smoke coming from the attic vent and went to neighbor’s house to call 911.

According to Fire Captain William Eason, “The fire was contained to the attic. Energized electric wiring igniting wood and insulation was the apparent cause of this fire.”
