Responds to Early Morning Blaze

Heavy Fire Damage to an Abandon Structure

The Shreveport Fire Department was dispatched during the morning hours at 2:27 a.m. to 7142 Suntan Street where firefighters found flames rising from the southwest corner of the abandoned structure. The home sustained heavy fire damage as the roof collapsed and flames extended 15 feet above the home. It took firefighters nearly an hour to contain the fire.

According to Fire Chief Brian Crawford, "I am very pleased with how our firefighters answered the call of duty and contained a potentially dangerous fire and prevented any additional damage to the adjacent homes in the community.”

Neighbors told firefighters and fire investigators that the property had been vacant for nearly two years and that neighborhood children have been seen entering the property illegally. Fire investigators have determined the fire was intentionally set and are currently seeking persons of interest.
