October 4, 2007 - SFD Putting On Citywide Fire Drill!
Asking all citizens to participate

As part of National Fire Prevention Week, the Shreveport Fire Department is asking all citizens to participate in the first “Citywide Fire Drill” this weekend, Sunday, October 7th at 7:00 p.m. in what is being billed as the areas largest community fire drill ever! Each Fire Station will pull out of the stations and sound their horns and sirens for one minute at 7:00 pm on Sunday to alert the community that it’s time for the fire drill and to practice a fire escape plan.

The purpose of the drill is to remind everyone of the importance of not only having a fire escape plan, but in the importance of practicing it. All citizens are encouraged to devise a home escape plan and practice the plan by participating in the city-wide fire drill. It’s essential that in the event of a fire in your home that everyone know where to go and what to do.

Anyone needing assistance with developing a home escape plan , smoke detector, or for more information on fire or injury prevention issues, please contact the Shreveport Fire Department at 673-6740. ###
