May 7, 2007 - Fire Department to Hold Open-House

Medical health screenings to be available

The Shreveport Fire Department will be holding their Annual Open House this year the weekend of June 2 and 3. Twenty department fire stations will be participating in the events with several select locations providing advanced medical health screenings on Saturday, June 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The health screenings are a way for the department to take a pro-active stance in providing the public with information on their current health condition as well as measures to help ensure their future wellness. The department has partnered with Willis Knighton Health Systems to provide the screenings.

The open house will be an opportunity for the citizens of Shreveport to meet their firefighters up-close. Firefighters will be on hand to provide station tours and demonstrate firefighting and medical equipment used in the life saving efforts of the department on a daily basis. “We hope that those that can stop by do so and meet the men and women who risk their lives every day to provide them with a better quality of life,” says Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran.
