February 22, 2007 - Querbes to burn overgrown grass area on golf course

Burn should not last more than two hours

Shreveport’s Querbes’ Golf Course, 3500 Beverly, will be burning-off an overgrown area of high pompous grass Friday morning beginning at 6 a.m. February 23. The burn should not last more than two hours. The area to be burned runs behind the shopping center housing the Madison Park El Chico’s restaurant on the corner of Fern Avenue and Greg Street. Residents may see heavy smoke in the area at times during the burn but most should have dissipated by the time most are leaving for work.

The Shreveport Fire Department will have an engine and firefighters standing-by during the burn. Once the grass is burnt away the Querbes’ grounds crew will maintain the area to a reasonable length to mow.
