August 21, 2006 - Fire Department to Host Program for Those Seeking Elected Office in Shreveport

With a new slate of candidates for both the Mayor’s office and City Council in Shreveport this year, the fire department is hosting a “Get to Know Your Fire Department” program for those seeking elected office.

In hosting such an event, the fire department realized the importance of providing each candidate with a general knowledge of one of the city’s largest agency. Included in the program will be live demonstrations of the department's Emergence Medical Services and firefighting expertise. The following are the logistics of the program: The following are the logistics of the program:

Time: 9-11:00 a.m.
Where: Shreveport Fire & Police Training Academy
6440 Greenwood Road

All candidates who officially filed for candidacy of the Mayor’s office or City Council seats were invited to attend. Those on the mayoral list who have RSVP include, Ed Bradley, Jerry Jones, Liz Swaine, Arlena Acree, and Max Malone. The media is invited for the duration of the event but is encouraged to be present during the “live” fire burn, which will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the rear of the Academy grounds. ###
