Louisiana’s Busiest Fire Company in Shreveport

The latest national run survey, posted by Firehouse Magazine, lists Shreveport Fire Department’s Engine 9, as the busiest fire company in the state for 2003 . . .

Last year the Cedar Grove engine company, located at St Vincent and W. 70^th, responded to 3,011 emergency and non-emergency calls. The company had a 1.5 percent increase in call volume over 2002.

This is the fourth year in a row that Engine 9 has been listed as Louisiana’s busiest fire company, placing ahead of all other state departments, including New Orleans, whose Engine 7 showed 2,558 calls last year, and Baton Rouge’s Engine 1, with 1,747 incidents. Along with fire calls, Engine 9, like all other engine companies in Shreveport responds to a variety of diverse calls, including emergency medical, hazardous material, and search and rescue. Emergency medical incidents, makeup roughly 75 percent of all engine company responses citywide.
