Man who pulled three to safety to be recognized

This afternoon, Shreveport Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran will recognize a Shreveport man who pulled three young men from their burning vehicle and to safety last month . . .

Mike Johnson was driving a truck for Builders Supplies along East Flournoy Lucas Road around 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 15 when he saw the fire. According to firefighters on the scene, if it had not been for the quick actions of Johnson, who used a fire extinguisher to knock back the flames and pull the three boys out of the vehicle, they may have not made it.

Johnson was on his way to the Shreveport/Bossier Port at the time of the incident and following rescuing the young men, simply climbed back into his truck and drove off. The Fire Department was able to track him down through his employer. For his actions, Chief Cochran will be presenting Johnson with the Fire Department’s Civilian Letter of Commendation.
