Fire Damages South Highlands Home

A morning that took firefighters more than 25 minutes to get under control fire left a home in the 500 block of Dudley heavily damaged.

Firefighters were called to the single story South Highland residence around 9:45 a.m. after neighbors saw smoke coming from the home’s roof line. When fire crews arrives on the scene, the interior of the home was heavily involved in flames as thick black smoke poured from the back of the structure and into the sky.

No one was at home at the time of the fire. Owner Patty Courtney told fire investigators that she had left her residence around 9:30 a.m. Investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire but have said that it started in a back den area of the home and are looking at a space heater and sofa in the area that received the heaviest damage. No injuries were reported. ###
