Fire Investigators Arrest Pair for Detonating Bombs

Shreveport Fire Department investigators have arrested two area men and charged each with manufacturing and detonating several homemade bombs yesterday afternoon.

After receiving reports of explosions in the Highland neighborhood a Shreveport Police area patrol made contact with residence in the 300 block of Boulevard Avenue who were able to identify where the noise was coming from.

Police were able to detain two suspects at 358 Boulevard until fire investigators arrived. Upon his arrival, Fire Investigator Russell Moon found that three plastic bottles had been exploded and a fourth was expanding and had not yet detonated. The bombs were said to be "acid bombs." Arrested were Daniel Robert Walker, 17, and a 16-year-old juvenile. Walker was booked into city jail and the juvenile to the Juvenile Detention Center.

The charge is Manufacturing and Possession of a Delayed Incendiary Device, a felony offence that carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years. ###
