Fire Damages Two Homes in Silver Pines Subdivision

A fire that investigators believe started from an automobile parked in an inclosed garage damaged two homes in the Silver Pines South Shreveport Silver Pines subdivision this afternoon.

Fire communications officers received the first call reporting the home at 2941 Jonathan Lane on fire from resident Terry Alexander, 49, at 1:23 p.m. Alexander told fire officials that he had just returned home in the car about an hour before the blaze. When firefighters arrived at the residence, the garage portion of the home was totally involved in flames, including a 93' Acura parked there. The fire had also broken through the roof of the structure and being fanned by heavy, easterly winds, caught the attic and roof of the home next door at 2945 Jonathan Lane on fire. Fire crews quickly attacked both fires and prevented any further spread. In all about 20 firefighters were used in at the emergency scene.

The fires were listed as under control by officials at 1:46 p.m. The home located at 2941 Jonathan Lane sustained heavy damage to its garage area, including the overlying roof, as well as some interior smoke damage to the living part of the structure. The home at 2945 Jonathan Lane sustained medium fire damage to the louvers and interior wood support to an end portion of the roof. No injuries were reported. ###
