Fire Department K-9 Search and Rescue Team, Fire Prevention and EMS Clowns to Visit Children at Shriners Hospital

Today at 3:00 p.m. the Shreveport Fire Department is sending their best men, women, and dogs over to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3100 Samford, to entertain and educate those hospitalized there. The K-9 team, led by Captain Kerry Foster, have recently garnered local attention due the recent televised stories and images from the New York City tragedy. There, these same type of dogs were used to find any possible survivors of the collapsed twin towers.

The department EMS clowns, Zip and Zap will also be on hand to provide the children with valuable medical information as well as to demonstrate their balloon sculpturing ability. Fire prevention will be there to share fire prevention tips like "Stop, Drop and Roll." Just enter through the front of the hospital for directions on where the visit is taking place. ###
