Children to Present Gifts for New York City to Fire Department

Today at 2:00 p.m. the children of Caddo Exceptional School, 3202 Williams Street, will present the Shreveport Fire Department with self-made posters and cards for New York City firefighters.

Fire Department Chaplin Durell Tuberville, who expects to be called to New York City for Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) and/or spiritual assistance, will be on hand at the school to accept the gifts.

"We will make sure that these gestures of hope and support make their way to the rescue workers in New York," said Tuberville. Tuberville said that he would personally either deliver the cards and posters or be sure they are mailed to the right people. The exchange is scheduled to take place in the front of the school.

Williams Street runs off of Jennings Street, which comes off of Samford Avenue near Shriners Hospital for Children. ###
