Child dies in car accident

A Shreveport family is mourning the loss of a four-year-old child, who died from injuries sustained in a car accident this morning.

Joshua Benjamin of Shreveport was air-lifted to LSU Hospital but succumbed to critical injuries. His brother and sister, 10-year-old Paul and 8-year-old Judy, also were injured in the accident, as was their mother, 31-year-old Victoria Benjamin.

The Benjamin family was in a maroon Ford Escort turning left from Bert Kouns Industrial Loop to Buncombe Road when they were hit by a red Chevy pickup that was on Bert Kouns going straight through the intersection.

Witness reported that Victoria Benjamin ran a red light, but she will not be ticketed.

The driver of the pickup, 56-year-old Woodrow Hall II of Bedford, Texas, received minor injuries in the crash.

Shreveport Police Department crash investigators are looking into the crash.
