Overnight Fire Damages Queensborough Residence

A fire in the Queensborough neighborhood of Shreveport kept firefighters busy overnight and heavily damaged a home at 3216 Stonewall Street. Fire 911 operators dispatched fire crews at 1:14 a.m. this morning after receiving calls reporting smoke in the neighborhood and coming from the residence. When crews from the department’s Milam Street and State Fair Grounds stations arrived on the scene, they found a single story, wood framed structure pouring smoke from every side.

Firefighters were able to make their way through the thick smoke by crawling blindly on the floor of the home and felling their way, using the walls for guidance. When they reached the rear of the residence, crews found a back bedroom totally involved in flames. Firefighters were also sent into the attic, as fire had broken through the ceiling of the bedroom and into the top portion of the house. Once firefighters were able to isolate the flames, they quickly brought the fire under control at 1:33 a.m.

Fire investigators were brought in to determine the cause of the fire. At this time the department has released no official findings. No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.
