Mail Carrier Injured in Automobile Accident

A United States Postal worker was injured this afternoon after his trademark Post Office Jeep rolled over and onto its side after being struck by a van at the intersection of North Pierre Avenue and Patzman Street. Mail carrier Jerry McCoy, 35, of Shreveport was traveling south on North Pierre Avenue when his vehicle was struck by the van, driven by 60-year-old Hermon Turner, as it crossed the intersection at Patzman. The impact of the accident spun the Jeep around and sent it onto its side.

When fire personnel arrived on the scene, McCoy was sitting on the side of the road. Firefighters and paramedics rendered medical attention to McCoy for minor injuries. He was transported to Doctor’s Hospital as a precautionary measure and for further evaluation.

Turner, of Shreveport, driving for AAA Limousine Service of Texarkana, Texas, was not injured in the accident. He was issued a ticket by Shreveport Police for failure to yield.
