Head-on Collision Sends Three to Hospital

A head-on collision this afternoon sent three people to the hospital, one in critical condition. Witness at the scene of the accident in the 5400 block of Greenwood Road stated that a Time Warner Cable truck and a late model Ford Thunderbird traveling in opposite directions collided around 3:30 p.m.

When fire and police crews arrived on the debris scattered scene they found the driver of the maligned and crushed Thunderbird, 73-year-old Dr. Dave Givens of Shreveport, in serious condition. Dr. Givens was treated and transported to Louisiana State University Health and Sciences Center (LSUHSC) in Shreveport by fire department paramedics. The driver of the cable truck, 28-year-old Trevor Edwards, and his passenger, Brandy Daris, 21, both of Shreveport, received minor injuries and were transported to Willis Knighton South (WKS). Officials are saying that it is still unclear exactly how the accident occurred, but one of the vehicles appears to have crossed the center line.

Updated information from LCUHSC has Dr. Givens listed in critical condition in the hospital’s Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). Both Edwards and Daris were treated and released from WKS. Fire officials have the exact address of the accident as 5430 Greenwood Road.
