the Shreveport Airport Authority
The Shreveport Airport Authority
is charged with the operation and maintenance of Shreveport Downtown Airport,
a general aviation airport, and Shreveport Regional Airport, a commercial
small hub airport. Both airports serve the citizens of Shreveport and
the surrounding region, including North Louisiana, East Texas, and Southwest
Arkansas.
The Airport Authority is represented
by a five-person voluntary board which serves on rotating terms. The board
members are appointed on a staggered basis by the Mayor of Shreveport,
presently Mayor Cedric Glover. The director of airports reports to the
Shreveport Airport Authority
The current board is composed of:
Raymond Alley, Chairman; Ted Roberts, Vice Chairman and
board members: Keith Gamble, Reverend Joe R. Gant and Dr. C. O.
Simpkins.
The board typically meets at 8:30 a.m.
on the third Thursday of each month inside the Shreveport Airport Authority
Conference Room at Shreveport Regional Airport.
The Shreveport Airport Authority employs
approximately 70 full-time employees in administration, maintenance/operations,
and airport security. The Airport Authority generates all of its operating
funds through the fees charged to the various tenants and clients of the
airport system. No local tax dollars are used to support the Airport Authority.
