PRESS RELEASE: Shreveport Airport Authority names Howard Malpass as new chairman; Ted Roberts as vice-chairman

The Shreveport Airport Authority has elected its officers for the year 2004-2005.

Mr. Howard Malpass has been named Chairman of the Shreveport Airport Authority, while Ted Roberts has been named vice-chairman. The duties of the chairman include presiding over the Shreveport Airport Authority meetings and working with the mayor and the director of airports. The vice-chairman assumes the duties of the chairman went he is absent.Mr. Malpass is owner of Ark-La-Tex Investigations of Shreveport and is a licensed private investigator. He has an associate's degree in criminal justice from Bossier Parish Community College, where he is also president of the Alumni Association. Originally from Washington D.C., Mr. Malpass is a graduate of Byrd High School in Shreveport. He also served in the United States Air Force and is a Vietnam veteran. He is a board member of the Louisiana State Board of Private Investigators Examiners and serves as chairman of the organization's ethics committee. He is 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. He is married to Trella Malpass. |

Mr. Roberts is a State Farm Insurance agent in Shreveport. He has served on the Airport Authority since 1998 and has previously served as chairman and vice chairman, and has participated in negotiations with numerous airlines for improved airline service and economic development in Shreveport. He is a member of the Shreveport Rotary Club, the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, Southern Hills Business Association, among numerous other organizations. He is a graduate of Northwestern University in Natchitoches and is married to Alice Farmer Roberts of Shreveport; they have four children, and nine grandchildren. |

The Shreveport Airport Authority consists of a five-person voluntary board appointed by the mayor of Shreveport and confirmed by the City Council to serve on five-year terms. The Airport Authority oversees the operations of both Shreveport Regional Airport and the Shreveport Downtown Airport. | |
