Jerry McKinney has joined the Shreveport Airport Authority staff as special projects manager.

McKinney comes to Shreveport from the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport where he was assistant director. He has more than 25 years of experience in the aviation industry, including owning a fixed base operation in Maryland, as well as serving in airport management in Saudi Arabia.

Originally from South Carolina, he has a bachelor's of arts in political science from The Citadel, McKinney also spent six years in the U.S. Air Force in Special Operations.

In his new role, he handles special airport projects for both Shreveport Regional Airport and Shreveport Downtown Airport, including managing the airport's noise mitigation program, airport construction and in development projects. McKinney is currently the interim Downtown Airport manager.

The Shreveport Airport Authority is responsible for managing Shreveport Regional Airport and Shreveport Downtown Airport.
